What to watch out for and pay attention to at the airport during your holiday and business trips

The airport is a place where haste and stress can lead to unpleasant surprises. Whether you are on your dream holiday or on a business trip, here are some tips on what to look for and what to remember before departure, at the airport and when we are already there 😉

Before leaving home

Before departure to the airport, it is important to prepare documents, luggage and properly plan the time. Check if you have a valid passport or ID card prepared (check the expiry date!), printed or electronic flight tickets, hotel documents and voucher for transfer from the airport, required visas or entry permits, and in the case of a business trip also travel documents and insurance.

Remember that badly packed luggage can generate unnecessary costs and delays, so it is worth checking the weight and dimension limits of your airline beforehand. It is also worth weighing the suitcase before departure and making sure that hand luggage meets standard requirements. It is equally important to plan the time properly – a delay on the flight means that our ticket is lost. Therefore, schedule your arrival at the airport at least 2 hours before the domestic departure (3 hours for intercontinental flights). It is also worth checking from which terminal our plane departs.

At the aerodrome before departure

When checking in, it is worth using the online option, thanks to which we will save time and have the opportunity to choose a better place in the plane.

Security control is a place of potential delays and loss of things… that’s why it’s worth taking electronics and liquids into a separate container, remove the topcoat and all metal objects. Remember not to have any water-in-the-bottle liquids with you.

After passing the security check it is worth checking the departure plates, as the departure time may change. It is also worth remembering that prices in duty-free shops will not always be favorable for us 😉

Arrival at destination

Being already on the spot before passport control, prepare all documents before you approach the position, which will significantly speed up the procedure. During your business trip, always have your company’s contact details in the destination country with you, which will confirm the purpose of your visit. Once you have landed and arrived at the arrival hall, check the baggage tape number assigned to your flight on the information boards. If you notice any damage to your suitcase, please report it as soon as possible to the baggage claim desk before leaving the baggage area. When preparing for customs controls, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the customs regulations of the destination country in advance, especially as regards the permitted limits for alcohol, tobacco, cash and other restricted goods.

Remember that every air trip can be smooth and pleasant if we are properly prepared. Most of the unpleasant surprises at the airport are due to our rush, inattention or ignorance of regulations.

Whether you’re on holiday or on business, the better you prepare for the trip, the fewer problems will be waiting for you 😉

Travel safely!
